France Beat Austria 2 0 In Uefa Euro 2024

France beat Austria 2-0 in UEFA Euro 2024

Les Bleus secure narrow victory in Group D opener

Goals from Kylian Mbappé and Olivier Giroud seal the win

France have begun their UEFA Euro 2024 campaign with a narrow 2-0 victory over Austria in Group D. The match, played at the Stade de France in Paris, saw Les Bleus dominate possession but struggle to create clear-cut chances in the first half.

However, the French team came out with more purpose after the break and took the lead through Mbappé in the 55th minute. The Paris Saint-Germain forward latched onto a pass from Antoine Griezmann and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.

Giroud doubled France's advantage in the 65th minute, heading home a cross from Benjamin Pavard. The AC Milan striker now has 52 goals for his country, moving him to within one of Thierry Henry's all-time record.

Austria had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way past the French defense. Hugo Lloris made a number of important saves, while Dayot Upamecano and Jules Koundé were solid at the back.

The win gives France a perfect start to their Euro 2024 campaign. Didier Deschamps' side will now face Denmark in their next match on Saturday, June 21.
